How to identify tempered glass

Tempered (sometimes called safety) glass is designed to break into small pieces, minimizing the danger of getting cut. When buying a piece of glass at a thrift store or finding scrap at a yard sale, it can be difficult to tell if the glass is tempered. This video shows an easy way to use two pieces of polarized film and a light source to determine if the glass is tempered.
